Lowell Gene Johnsen, 86, of Sleepy Eye, died June 17, 2017, at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Visitation will be Monday, June 26, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye on Monday at 10:30 a.m. The clergy will be Pastor Keith Ainsley. Interment will be at Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Military Honors by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

Lowell was born July 4, 1930 on the family farm near Sleepy Eye to John A. and Verna V. (Prosch) Johnsen. He attended Sleepy Eye Public School, graduating in 1949. He entered the U.S. Air Force after completing two years at the University of Minnesota for agriculture. After returning from the service, he returned to Sleepy Eye to the family farm. After losing his arm in a farming accident, he moved to Minneapolis and worked for the City of Minneapolis and delivered phone books in Minneapolis and St. Paul. He moved back to Sleepy Eye in 2009. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Lowell loved helping people.

He is survived by his brothers, Kenneth (Bonnie) Johnsen of Prior Lake, Jerry (Sharon) Johnsen of North Olmsted, Ohio; sister, Joyce Wolling of Sleepy Eye; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Johnsen of Brookston. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn Johnsen; brother-in-law, Roger Wolling; niece, Deborah Johnsen; and nephew, Timothy Johnsen.
