Rosemary "Rosie" Stimpert, 73, of Sleepy Eye, died March 14, 2017, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Rosemary "Rosie" Stimpert, 73, of Sleepy Eye, died March 14, 2017, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be Sunday, March 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. and will continue on Monday from 7:30 to 10 am at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel. Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Sleepy Eye, on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. The Christian Mothers will say a rosary at the funeral home Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. The clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. In lieu of flowers, Rosie would prefer memorials to St. Mary's Catholic Church and School, Divine Providence, Sleepy Eye Medical Center and Redwood Falls Hospice. Rosie was born Nov. 25, 1943 in Brown County to Otto and Mary (Schroepfer) Eckstein. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School. On Feb. 14, 1961 she was united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" Stimpert at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rosie lived her entire life in Sleepy Eye. Rosie was employed at the Sleepy Eye Hospital, retiring on Feb. 12, 2016, just one month shy of 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, yard work, baking, word searches, visiting, praying and spending time with family. She was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

Rosie is survived by her husband, Gerald "Jerry"; children: Lori (Don) Swenstad, Beverly (James) Schindele and Michael (Brenda) Stimpert; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Ryan (Jessica) Weilage and daughters Emma and Ellie, Christopher (Michelle Roiger) Weilage and daughter Alyce, Dustin (Megan) Swenstad and sons Jack, Henry and William, Geri (Josh Domeier) Swenstad and daughters Briella and Charlee, Kristen (Shawn) Guenzler, Mary (Troy) Seitzema, Jennifer (Richard) Hindermann and children Kennedi, Logan and baby due in July, Stephanie Nord and daughters Brooklyn and Ava, and Jamie Stimpert. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Joan Apitz and Lillian Stimpert; cousins; friends; and many acquaintances. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Mary Eckstein; brother and sister-in-law, Cyril (Loraine) Eckstein; brother, William E. "Bill" Eckstein; mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Arnold Stimpert; and brother-in-law, Merton Stimpert; sister-in-law and husband, Patricia (Jerry) Stoneberg; and brother-in-law, Harold Apitz.
