On Jan. 28, the Brown County Dairy Association, in conjunction with Nicollet County Dairy Association, hosted their annual Dairy Princess coronation at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

The 2012 Dairy Princess is Laura Rosenhammer of Sleepy Eye. Laura is a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, majoring in Animal Science with an emphasis in Dairy.

As county dairy princess, Laura will be making many appearances during not only June Dairy Month, but also at area schools in May, day cares and libraries in July, and area county fairs in August.

In addition to her duties, Laura will also have the opportunity to compete at the May event in St. Cloud. The May event is hosted each year, where the 12 finalists for Princess Kay of the Milky Way are selected.

Each of these finalists will have their likeness carved in butter at the Minnesota State Fair. In 2011, Brown County’s Kelsey Sellner was selected as a finalist.

Thankfully, Laura will receive some much needed help this summer from her six ambassadors: Katelyn Johnson, Sabrina Portner, Molly Lax, Maggie Sellner, Mary Rosenhammer and Bethany Seifert, all of Sleepy Eye. Anyone who is interested in scheduling a promotion with Brown County’s Dairy Royalty, may call Shannon Seifert at 507-794-4888.
