New Ulm – Michael Schewe, 59, of New Ulm, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at his home in New Ulm.  Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 8 at the First Baptist Church in New Ulm with Dr. Robert J. Fuller, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow at the New Ulm City Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm and one hour prior to the service at the church.
 
Michael Jerald Edward Schewe, the son of Jerald and Kathleen (Dormady) Schewe, was born September 24, 1950 in Sleepy Eye.  He graduated from Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, VA in 1969.  Michael was united in marriage to LeAnn Moldan July 22, 1970 in Essig.  The couple made their home in New Ulm where Michael was a trucker for most of his working career.  At the age of 36, Michael came to faith in Jesus Christ and was born again.  He studied the Bible for over 23 years, growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Michael studied under the works of the Dallas Theological Seminary.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Ulm.
 
Survivors include his wife LeAnn Schewe of New Ulm; sons Michael Hughes and his wife Melissa, Elijah Schewe and his wife Sara; daughters Michelle Clyne and her husband David all of New Ulm, April Gabrielson and her husband Scott of Cambridge, Sarah Aguilar and her husband Justin both in the U.S. Air Force; nine grandchildren; mother Kathleen Schewe of New Ulm; sisters Diane Madsen and her husband Randy of Gibbon, Renae Sabatino and her husband Paul of New Ulm; nieces and nephews. 
 
Michael was preceded in death by his father Jerald Schewe and brother-in-law Jerry Peterson.
