School Activities

Nathan is active at Sleepy Eye Public High School in football, hockey, track, the school play and FFA. Offices he has held include Chapter Sentinel, Chapter Vice-President, Region VI Reporter, Chapter President and team captain on the football team.

Outside of school, Nathan has worked at Hardee’s and for JPM Landscaping at the Sleepy Eye Hockey Arena.

Community Involvement

In the community, Nathan has served as a student hockey coach, a tutor, a Sunday School assistant and with the FFA “Adopt-a-Senior” program.

In his leisure time, Nathan enjoys playing hockey, snowmobiling, landscaping, being involved with FFA and cruising in his 1981 Z 28 Camaro.

Personal Values and Strengths

Nathan says he was raised on the principals of hard work, determination, dedication and faith.

“With these personal values, I can obtain so much in life,” he said. “Faith kicks in when everything gets overwhelming and also helps me stay positive from point A to point B.”

One major strength that Nathan feels he has is his leadership skills.

“These are my personal values that will make me successful in the future,” he said.

Greatest Influence in Life

He says that his greatest influence in life has been his father, James. He said that his father has worked for much of his life since he was five years old on the family farm and he passed the value of hard work on to Nathan.

“My Dad has formed my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual beliefs and made me who I am,” he said. “I hope I can return the favor to my kids just like my father has taught me.”

Post-Graduation Plans

Nathan plans to help his father with his small business until he goes to college. He plans on attending college to receive a degree in engineering and business and hopes to manage an engineering company in the future.
