Brown and Watonwan County motorists will face enhanced speed enforcement patrols throughout July as part of a statewide campaign administrated by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety.
More than 400 law enforcement agencies statewide participated in the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS)-coordinated enforcement effort aimed at increasing seat belt and child restraint use among motorists
The Underage Substance Abuse Coalition, in cooperation with the Brown County Law Enforcement agencies, will be sponsoring training regarding alcohol server responsibilities, alcohol laws, checking Identifications Cards (I.D.s), prevention and recognition of alcohol intoxication and handling of difficult situations in licensed establishments, at community festivals, celebrations or fundraisers where alcohol is served.
Heightened Seat Belt Enforcement Starts May 24; Officers Can Stop Motorists Solely for Belt Violations
New Ulm, Brown Co. MN — Drivers, passengers and kids better be buckled up or in the correct child restraint as Brown and Watonwan Co. Deputies, along with New Ulm and Sleepy Eye Police Officers ramp up enhanced Click It or Ticket seat belt patrols May 24–June 6. The campaign marks one year since the state’s primary seat belt law became effective June 9, 2009, allowing law enforcement to stop and ticket motorists solely for belt violations.

TRAVEL ADVISORY: Highway 93 from Highway 169 to LeSueur closed due to flooding
MANKATO, Minn.- (11:15 a.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol will close Highway 93 from Highway 169 to LeSueur at 12 noon due to flooding.
Traffic is advised to use Highway 112 as an alternate route.
Motorists should expect to be detoured
MANKATO, Minn.- (11:30 a.m.) Both lanes of Highway 19 east of Gaylord are closed due to a crash with two semi trucks.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or watch for detour signs to state and county roads.
Motorists are also advised to slow down and drive for conditions. Snowplow operators are out in force and doing their part to keep the motoring public safe.
Highway 19 will remain closed until further notice.
