“The Elves’ Christmas Village” will take place two Saturdays, Dec. 1 and 15, from 1 to 8 p.m.
Kathy Krenz had so much fun with the Avenue of Trees and other Christmas season festivities in downtown Sleepy Eye last December that she decided to do it again.
This year’s event, sponsored by Krenz Real Estate, is called “The Elves’ Christmas Village” and will take place two Saturdays, Dec. 1 and 15, from 1 to 8 p.m. The Elves’ Snack Shack will be at Krenz Real Estate, 140 W. Main, and across the street at 135 W. Main, will be the Elves’ Sweet Shop.
This year the big Avenue of Trees is set up at 121 2nd Avenue NE (the former Overson Building Center). There are 26 Christmas trees on display, decorated by a variety of businesses, schools and churches. Also at that location there will be vendors and live music by Al Lang. The Polar Princess Salon will be there also. There is a cost for this event — each Polar Princess will have her hair done, dress up in a princess dress and have her picture taken. Reservations are required; see the Elves’ Christmas Village in Sleepy Eye Facebook page to sign up.
Children can meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Depot Museum during the festivities on both Saturdays.
At 6 p.m. on Dec. 1 there will be a special tree lighting ceremony in Veteran’s Memorial Park. Participating will be Mayor Pelzel and Miss Sleepy Eye, and there will be Christmas music by a local choir.
