Election results

The Sleepy Eye City Council election in Ward 2 has been of interest to many in the city, with Gary Windschitl running against current council member Richard Zinniel. After all the votes were tallied, both locally at the polling place and those that had been received at the Brown County Courthouse in early voting, Windschitl came out on top with 430 votes to Zinniel’s 369. There were no write-in votes cast in this race.

Two other council members were re-elected. Nate Stevermer received 1,158 votes for the At Large council position and there were 19 write-in votes. In Ward 1, Doug Pelzel received 445 votes and there were eight write-in votes.

Also on the ballot in Sleepy Eye were four school board members, running for four positions. Bryan Sellner, Sheila Wurtzberger, Brian Nelson and Casey Coulson were re-elected.

In the race for Brown County Sheriff, which was also of great interest to voters, Jason Seidl won with 7,818 votes; Jeff Hohensee received 3,836 votes. In the City of Sleepy Eye the vote total was 1,013 for Seidl and 302 for Hohensee.
