We are just days away from Election Day, Nov. 6.
We are just days away from Election Day, Nov. 6. It has been an election season with a lot of interest in local and statewide races. I admire those who are willing to serve in elected office. Now it is time for the rest of us to do our part and vote. Residents of Sleepy Eye vote at the Community Center, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Brown County Auditor-Treasurer sent a reminder that mail ballots (several townships vote by mail) and absentee ballots must be received in their office by Nov. 6, so if you have one drop it in the mail today! The ballot can also be brought to the Brown County Courthouse up until 8 p.m. on Nov. 6. If you misplaced the ballot you received in the mail you can go to the courthouse to vote.
I’ve had a few people ask me if they need to vote on every race on the ballot. The answer is no. Your vote counts even if you do not vote in every race.
An election is a great event, but I imagine many will agree with me that it will be nice when we no longer see the negative campaign commercials. I certainly hope for more positivity after the election is over. (And, please, give us some time off before they start up again for the 2020 election.)
Have you admired the U.S. flags flying in front of many businesses in Sleepy Eye? The effort, called Flags Out Front, will be officially recognized with a flag dedication program at Veteran’s Park downtown on Friday, Nov. 9 at noon. Come out and show your support for this effort to honor our country and those who serve.
