Volunteers make it happen!
Five years ago the Holiday Lights in Motion committee set up five animated display pieces in Sportsmen’s Park. Each year they’ve added displays and lights to the popular attraction.
They are at it again, starting work last week when they could corral some students on break from school to start the process of wrapping trees with lights. Committee member Mike Suess said they got a nice start last week, but the work will continue for several more weeks. That means many more volunteers will be needed to get the job done—kids and adults.
“We’ll be at the park every weekend and welcome any help we can get,” said Suess. Generally, volunteers are needed between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Suess said Shari Hittesdorf will post updated information on work times on the Sleepy Eye Holiday Lights in Motion Facebook page and their website: sleepyeyeholidaylights.org.
Suess said those who want more information can call or text him at 507-217-1031.
You know the old saying (that I just made up), “It takes a village to light up a park!”
