The roundabout at Highway 4 and Brown County Road 29, north of Sleepy Eye, is open to traffic.
The roundabout at Highway 4 and Brown County Road 29, north of Sleepy Eye, opened to traffic late Friday afternoon, Oct. 5. Traffic had been detoured away from the intersection since July 9. According to MnDOT, the single-lane roundabout was installed to improve safety at the intersection, which is a sustained crash location with fatalities occurring in 2014 and 2015.
MnDOT reminded drivers of these basic tips for driving roundabouts: •Slow down when approaching a roundabout. •Yield to vehicles already in the roundabout. •Merge into the traffic flow when it is safe. •Continue through the roundabout until you reach your exit. •Do not stop or pass in a roundabout.
