The Knights used 492 total yards in blowout victory of the Nicollet Raiders Friday night.
The St. Mary’s football team stayed hot with a 46-16 victory over the Nicollet Raiders Friday night. The Knights wasted no time, getting on board early with an 82-yard touchdown run by quarterback Nick Labat. Running back Patrick Hoffmann later found the end zone and Labat walked in for the two-point conversion, giving the Knights a 14-0 lead Hoffmann would score again later in the second quarter for his second touchdown of the night and extending the Knights lead to 20-0.
With time winding down in the first half, Spencer Hoffmann got in on the scoring with a pick-six, taking an interception to the house for 47 yards. The Knights held a commanding 26-0 lead at halftime.
Just as the third quarter began, with just under eight minutes remaining in the period, Patrick Hoffmann scored his third touchdown of the night and the Knights were rolling, up 32-0.
After Hoffmann’s third score of the night, Nicollet would get their first score of the game on a touchdown as quarterback Jon Mans found Jeffrey Volby Jr. from three yards out. The Raiders would convert the two-point conversion cutting the Knights’ lead to 32-8. Trent Steffensmeier would later score in the fourth quarter to give the Knights their final touchdown of the night.
The Knights were led by Patrick Hoffmann with 74 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Labat had 87 yards passing and 143 yards rushing of his own. Labat and Hoffmann were not alone in their contributions as the Knights pounded the Raiders with 523 total yards.
The Knights advanced to 4-1 overall on the season. In their four wins, the Knights average 57 points per game. They will host the Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Mustangs next Friday night, Oct 5 for Homecoming at 7 p.m. in Sleepy Eye.
