FFA Members of the Month for August are Evan Fischer, Presley Bauer and Jack Schroepfer. Officer of the month is Kalli Christensen.

Evan Fischer is a junior at Sleepy Eye High School and has been in the FFA for five years. Evan joined FFA because his brother and sister both joined so he decided he would join too. Evan is on the Forestry CDE team and his favorite part of Forestry is tool identification.

Evan’s favorite FFA activities are the chapter meetings. He would really like to become a chapter officer next year. Evan has learned much more about leadership since he joined FFA. He is most proud of getting fifth at Regions for Forestry and getting Member of the Month.

Presley Bauer is a freshman at Sleepy Eye High School and has been in FFA for three years. Presley joined FFA because of all the new experiences and opportunities available. She is a Junior Officer Team Member. She is interested in joining the Meats CDE team this year because she thought it was fun and enjoyable at the CDE fair. She also wants to try Market Plan because she likes public speaking. Presley’s SAE involves helping with community service and other activities.

Presley’s favorite FFA activities are Timberland Camp and the Summer Ag. Tour. Presley is looking forward to the FFA Lock-In, something she’s been waiting to do in high school. She has learned from FFA that even if you don’t think you are a leader, you still can become one. Presley is most proud of being Member of the Month and a Summer All-Star, winning her own FFA jacket, and being Tagged to Teach Ag.

Jack Schroepfer is a freshman at Sleepy Eye High School and has been in FFA for three years. Jack joined FFA because both of his sisters were in it, and he wanted to try something new. He is on the Dairy CDE team and doesn’t know much about it yet because this will be his first year on the team. Jack works on a dairy farm for his SAE where he feeds calves, milks, and cleans the barn.

Jack’s favorite FFA activities are State Convention, camps, and other trips. He is looking forward to National Convention. Jack learned how FFA can bring people together for the best and also has learned more about farms in the U.S. through FFA. He is most proud of his Discovery Degree and getting Member of the Month.

Kalli Christensen is a junior at Sleepy Eye High School and has been involved in the FFA for five years. Kalli joined FFA because she grew up around agriculture and it seemed fitting for her. She is the treasurer on the chapter officer team this year. She likes being treasurer because she enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and critical thinking. Kalli is going to try the Public Speaking event this year and her favorite things about her event are being independent, doing research, and expanding knowledge on certain agriculture issues. Kalli’s SAE involves working in supply chain at Christensen Farms where she does miscellaneous work. She also works at the nursing home where she works in dietary.

Kalli’s favorite FFA activities are FFA camps and chapter meetings. Kalli wants to try to be more involved in her chapter and wants to meet more people. Through FFA, she has learned about how agriculture and FFA principles play a huge role in our lives and economy. Kalli is most proud of getting Officer of the Month, first place showing a beef heifer, and getting fourth place at State Convention for B.I.G. team.
