At this year’s annual Buttered Corn Days Celebration, FFA members had the opportunity to teach children about farm safety and agriculture. The kids played a series of games and answered questions about safety practices regarding tractors, animals, chemicals, grain, machinery, and water, as well as questions about where your food and clothing items come from. After completing the games and answering the questions, the children got a prize. Prizes included: water bottles, pencils, safety activity books, flashlights, and more. The FFA booth is a great way for kids to learn about farm safety and agriculture even if they are not from a farming background.
Thirty members from the Sleepy Eye FFA participated in this year’s farm safety booth: Livia Nelson, Abby Ring, McKenna Dockter, Brittney Dittbenner, Macy Schenk, Cassidy Hoffmann, Morgan Hoffmann, Katelyn Capacia, Miah Brown, Maddison Helget, Liv Nelson, Sophie Portner, Abby Hoffmann, Trisha Ludewig, Carmen Lendt, Trey Heiderscheidt, Jorden Niebuhr, Cali Rossbach, Juan Cortez, Isabel Martinez, Kalli Christensen, Adam Johnson, Paige Romberg, Martina Nienhaus, Edwin Flores, Millicent Sorenson, Emma Fischer, Logan Mickelson, Tatianna Rudolph, Tamira Rudolph, and Presley Bauer.
