“If and when Gloria ever decides to retire, Sleepy Eye High School will have a huge hole to fill as she does so many things to support the school, students and faculty.”

On Monday morning, Aug. 13, the staff of Sleepy Eye Public Schools met for their first day of workshops to prepare for the students arriving next Monday morning. One of the highlights of their opening meeting was the announcement of Gloria Nachreiner as Sleepy Eye Education Association (SEEA) Teacher of the Year.

Mindi Berkner read the nomination that earned Nachreiner the award. Some of the comments:

“Gloria has been an asset to our students in the classroom and in numerous volunteer capacities. Gloria is the first faculty member at school every day and when not teaching, you can find her volunteering for something else. Gloria has given service to our school above and beyond what is expected of her.

“Outside the classroom you can see Gloria cleaning and organizing the trophy cases, helping with prom, concession stands, graduation, yearbook, gold cord, honor society, student council, first aid and CPR classes, taking tickets at events and taking pictures at events.
