EDA Coordinator Kurk Kramer announced a community visioning session that will be held Tuesday, July 31, to address the downtown district.

EDA Coordinator Kurk Kramer announced a community visioning session that will be held Tuesday, July 31, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Sleepy Eye Event Center. The topic is: Addressing the Downtown District.

What is a visioning session? Kramer offered this description: Visioning is a participatory tool that brings citizens, stakeholders, and community members together in developing a shared vision of the future. By asking the group where they are now and where they can realistically expect to be in the future, you can develop a vision together.

“This will be an opportunity for all members of the community to continue the efforts that began with the three days of Ron Drake’s consultation, and the recent presentation of his Gap Analysis Report,” explained Kramer. “Time will be spent discussing how we can all work together to preserve the history of the heart of our community, contemplate redevelopment ideas, and look at what the future holds for the Downtown District.”

Kramer said the EDA Board will use the input from the session in the development of the downtown plan for Sleepy Eye.

Kramer said the general public is invited to participate in this visioning session, “Sleepy Eye residents are urged to attend!”
