The Wabasso-Springfield-Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s eighth-grade boy's team qualified for Great Five-State Youth Basketball Championships.

The Wabasso-Springfield-Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s eighth-grade boys team qualified for the Pacesetter Great Five-State Youth Basketball Championships, placing second in the Pacesetter state tournament on June 10.

WSST defeated Deer River, 51-48 and Moose Lake-Willow River, 65-55, to reach the finals of the state tournament—where they lost in overtime to Hutchinson, 52-48, in action at Maple Grove Middle School.

The Pacesetter Great Five-State eighth-grade boys tournament will be held Aug. 4 and 5, primarily at Target Center. It will include qualifiers from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.
