Lots of action in town!

Tuesday morning, May 29, MnDOT provided an update on the Highway 14 construction project. Work had begun on sidewalk removal on the south side of Main Street, in the block by Dairy Queen, with the new forms and concrete to follow Wednesday. This sidewalk work, which includes corner ramps and some removal of concrete into the roadway, will continue to 2nd Avenue SE—probably into the core downtown area Friday or Monday.

On Thursday, the crosswalk flashers/poles will be removed at the 1st Avenue intersection, as new ones will be installed with this project. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution at this intersection as work progresses.

In addition, the signal lights will be removed at the Highways 4 and 14 intersection sometime next week. Flashing four-way stop signs will be in place at the intersection until the new signal lights are installed.

Motorists should expect lane transitions along Highway 14 during construction of sidewalks and as work progresses on the highway.

MnDOT and the contractors meet each Tuesday morning and will continue to provide project updates.

Another project—the Highway 4/County Road 29 roundabout project north of Sleepy Eye, which was expected to start on June 4, is now scheduled to begin July 2.
