The Sleepy Eye United boys’ golf team is leading the conference in this weather-shortened season. After two of three scheduled Tomahawk Conference tournaments, SEU is in the lead, with all seven golfers in the top 15 individually.

The first conference tournament was at Oakdale Golf Club Wednesday, May 2.

Sleepy Eye’s Ben Laffen finished first with 76, followed by Maverick Winkelmann of Springfield with 78. Next for SEU’s team score was Logan Netzke in third with 79, Andrew Neid was fourth with 85 and Parker Landkammer was ninth with 87. Thor Weiss was 10th with 88 and Josh Nelson was 12th with 89.

Sleepy Eye does not have a varsity girls team this year, but Ashtyn Tauer competes individually and finished fifth with 96.

The second conference tournament was at New Ulm Country Club Monday, May 7.

Laffen led the pack with 71, followed again by Winkelmann with 77. Also scoring for SEU were Weiss in fifth with 81, Netzke in sixth with 83 and Neid in seventh with 84. Landkammer was 24th with 99.

For the girls, Tauer again finished fifth with 96.

The final conference tournament is Monday, May 14, 10 a.m. start—boys at Mayflower Country Club, Fairfax and girls at the Sleepy Eye Golf Club.

On Friday, May 4 Sleepy Eye was host to Red Rock Central in another win for the local boys.
