Sleepy Eye fourth grade students gathered in South Park on Thursday afternoon, May 3, for an Arbor Day program, a 37-year tradition in Sleepy Eye. The program included a talk by Mayor Wayne Pelzel, who shared some of the things he’s learned about trees; skits, poems and songs performed by the students from Public, St. Mary’s and St. John’s schools; and a soil health presentation by BSWCD and NRCS. The students helped plant four trees, before having a cookie and heading back to school.
