With an incredible season behind them, and the Big South Conference win under their belts, the Eagles girls hockey team went into their Thursday night first round Section 2A playoff game with confidence. Earning the three-seed, the Eagles were set to face off against the Litchfield/Dassel/Cokato Dragons on home ice.

Eagles 5

Dragons 1

The Dragons took the puck at the opening face-off and got a goal in the first 16 seconds of the game. The game picked up from there and the Eagles shook off the goal. Ali Beltz tied it up, moving into position and getting the pass from Ashtyn Wiltscheck and Madeline Gag.

The Eagles took the game away from the Dragons in the second period. Wiltscheck and Beltz both slapped goals in at the beginning of the period, for a 3-1 lead. The Eagles overworked the Dragons goalie, with 20 shots on goal.

Dani Weiss improved on the Eagles lead with a goal in the third period. In the final minutes of the game, Caleigh Heck got one final goal in the net for the Eagles.

The win advanced the Eagles to play Hutchinson on Feb. 13.
