The FFA recently announced members and officer of month. Members of the Month for January are Madalynn Nachreiner, Isaac Huiras and Macayla Lyman; Officer of the Month is Josie Lang.

Madalynn Nachrein-er is a seventh grader at St. Mary's High School. This is her first year in FFA and she joined because she was interested in FFA and wanted to see what it was about. Her favorite FFA activities are the meetings and she enjoyed fruit sales because she met the goal she set for herself. Madalynn is looking forward to all the new experiences she will have in the future.

Madalynn has learned many things by being in FFA and Ag. Classes including working as team to accomplish a task. She is most proud of this Member of the Month award, as it is her first of many to come.

Isaac Huiras is a 10th grader at Sleepy Eye Public School. This is his first year in FFA and he joined because many members gave him the idea. Now he loves FFA and thinks everyone should join! Isaac is on the Small Animals CDE. He enjoys learning about new animals and the anatomy of them. He is looking forward to the competitions.

Through FFA and Ag. Classes he has learned that Ag. isn't just farming, it is so much more. He is most proud of his Gold Honor Roll and this FFA award of Member of the Month.

Macayla Lyman is a senior at Sleepy Eye Public School and has been in FFA for three years. She joined because she wanted to be involved in the activities and teaching kids about FFA and agriculture. Her favorite activities are the meetings each month. Something she enjoyed was throwing color at the Faith Jam and she is looking forward to working at the animal carnival.

By being in FFA and an Ag. Class, Macayla has learned about farm safety, animal safety, and food science. She is most proud of this award as Member of the Month.

Josie Lang is a senior at Sleepy Eye Public School. She has been in FFA for six years and joined to grow as a leader. She now is a part of FFA to help others break out of their comfort zone and develop as leaders. Josie is the president of the local FFA chapter. She likes being able to lead and help the members find things they can enjoy in FFA. Even though she is not currently on a CDE team, she participated in Market Plan and it was one of the most memorable CDEs she participated in.

Josie is also Region VI Reporter this year. She has had a blast on the region officer team. It has given her the chance to meet new people, try new things, and to be a voice for 20 different chapters.

Josie has learned that no matter what you're around, agriculture is close by and that you are always learning new things that have to do with agriculture. She is proud of many awards including: Chapter Degree, Outstanding Sophomore Award and10 Star Member. She is also proud to be receiving her State Degree this year at State Convention.
