The Sleepy Eye FFA officers attended a Mid-Winter Retreat on January 6 and 7, in St. Cloud, along with advisors Mary Hoffmann and Nathan McMullen. While at the retreat, officers reflected on what went well during the year so far, what challenges they faced, and how they overcame them. They also reflected on what they were looking forward to in the future.

The FFA officers took a personality test and reflected on what it truly takes to be a good team. They decided being a good team means having a variety of personalities, in order to get different perspectives and ideas, to accomplish things that need to get done.

The officer team then looked at what still needs to be accomplished this year and what each officer's responsibilities were. At the beginning of the year, the team set goals for the chapter. At the retreat, they reviewed their goals and realized which ones they still needed to work towards.

The team also planned FFA week—which is the busiest time of the year for FFA. The week is packed full with FFA event, such as the blacklight glow dance, high school lock-in, elementary animal carnival, junior high bowling trip, appreciation breakfast, and the high school reward trip to the Maverick’s Hockey Game.

The officer team members also got to relax and do some bonding activities, such as going go kart racing, swimming, playing volleyball and teamwork games.

Planning for the January FFA events for the senior and junior high took place at the retreat as well. The next high school FFA meeting is on Monday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Ag Room. The theme for the night is Hawaiian—so members should wear their best Hawaiian clothes! There will be fruit pizza and tacos-in-a-bag provided at the meeting. There will also be sign-ups for the animal carnival that will take place during FFA Week.

There will be a junior high FFA fun night on Jan. 29, 3:01 to 6:30 p.m. The agenda includes a movie, mixers, and fun gym games. The junior high members will also be signing up for the FFA week bowling trip to Springfield Lanes and having a taco-in-a-bag supper.
