Holiday boxes were delivered to Sleepy Eye Elementary School for children, and their families, who receive the weekend backpacks of food.

Holiday boxes were delivered to Sleepy Eye Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 20, for children, and their families, who receive the weekend backpacks of food. The holiday boxes included fresh fruit, other food items, personal care products, books, a grocery gift card and a fleece tie blanket.

The holiday boxes were made possible through donations from staff at Sleepy Eye Public Schools, Volunteers of America, and the Sleepy Eye Medical Center, as well as by the Friends of SEPS parent group and members of Trinity Lutheran Church and their Womens’ Bible Study group. Trinity’s Board of Social Ministries and social work staff of SEPS organized this project.

Donations for the weekend backpack food project are always welcome. Donors can contact Trinity Lutheran Church, at 794-5051, to learn more.
