The Downtown District Committee’s new holiday event, the Polar X-Press, has been delighting visitors each Saturday afternoon this month. They’ve also been delighted by mild weather, but this coming Saturday, Dec. 23, promises to put the “polar” in the event.
Never fear, everything is inside downtown buildings. Visit the Elves Workshop at 135 West Main, talk to Santa Claus at 140 West Main, and bundle up and walk down to 229 West Main to enjoy the Avenue of Trees and a vendor market.
Organizer Kathy Krenz said the Polar Princess Salon wrapped up business last Saturday, but families are still welcome to have children pose for photos in the Princess corner in the same building as the Avenue of Trees.
Krenz said the Polar X-Press has been a lot of fun, and a lot of work, but she sure seemed to be enjoying herself as she admired the sparkling Avenue of Trees. Krenz said she expects to repeat the project next year, but acknowledged the committee would be evaluating each component to decide on tweaks and improvements.
Sleepy Eye’s Polar X-Press sites are open for the final day—Saturday, Dec. 23, 2 to 7 p.m.
