Sleet, wind and snow didn’t prevent the Christmas Lights contest judges from making their rounds Monday evening and choosing their favorites. First place went to Barney and Jayne Borth (top), 800 2nd Avenue SW—the display is on the Brackenridge Street side of their home. Second place went to Mike and Tammy Carr (left), 515 4th Avenue NW. The contest is sponsored by Dairy Queen and the Chamber of Commerce. The Borths won a $25 chamber certificate and the honor of displaying the WINNER sign in their yard. The Carrs won a Dairy Queen cake. A drive around town demonstrates that the judges had a tough assignment, as so many homes are beautifully decorated.
