Halloween and fall collections a success for local students and the food shelf.

It is a fall tradition for local students to collect food items for the Sleepy Eye Food Shelf. On Halloween, the Sleepy Eye High School Honor Society collected 809.5 pounds of food during their “Trick or Treat for the Food Shelf” event.

This year, St. Mary’s Honor Society gathered their food donations with a “Trunk or Treat” collection after weekend Masses. In addition, high school and elementary school students collected food in their classrooms during November. St. Mary’s students collected 635.3 pounds of food for the Sleepy Eye Food Shelf.
