Bridging Brown County (BBC) held its 14th Annual Appreciation Dinner Thursday evening, Oct. 26, at the Sleepy Eye Event Center. The evening’s festivities included both a silent and live auction to raise funds for the organization.

Sleepy Eye Mayor Wayne Pelzel was the guest speaker and proudly welcomed the approximately 100 attendees to the Event Center. He spoke about the importance of community involvement, praising the audience for their commitment to their own and the county communities.

Bridging Brown County Director, Clarice Platz, was honored with the 2017 Bridge Builder Award. Presenting the award were Jenny Eckstein, BBC President and Christina Andres, BBC board member. They highlighted Platz’s dedication to her own communities—St. Raphael’s parish in Springfield, her faith community; her family community, which she serves as devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother of eight; and her career community, not only as Director of BBC, but also as a business owner—of Seams to Fit & Tuxes 2 and active member of the chambers of commerce in both Sleepy Eye and Springfield.

“Clarice is a bridge builder—always working hard to find ways to make things work,” closed Andres. “We are happy to have her as an important part of our organization and community.”
