Lakeview 18

The first quarter went by without either team scoring a touchdown. But when the clock reset for the second, the Indians took off. Quarterback Zach Haala got things started with a 46-yard pass to Landon Strong for the first touchdown of the game. The Indians went for the kick, but it was no good. The Lakers managed to break past the Indians’ defense after receiving the kick and scored as well, but also failed on their kick attempt. The game was tied 6-6.

Carter Tauer had something to say about that, grabbing the kick off and returning the ball 98 yards for a touchdown. The Indians went for the two-pointer, but got stopped short of the line.

After halftime, Strong set things off again for the Indians, running 24 yards to score a touchdown and this time Sleepy Eye got the kick.

On the ball again, Jacob Berg went 23 yards to score. The Indians continued to own the quarter with Strong on the ball again. Haala passed the ball off to Strong. Strong ran 76 yards, even breaking free from an attempted tackle, to score his third touchdown of the night. Adding on to their lead, the Indians completed the kick, putting them up 32-6.

Nathan Walters contributed in a big way—returning an interception 31 yards for a touchdown. Joshua Garcia completed the kick. Before the third quarter ended, the Lakers managed one touchdown off a 37-yard pass.

The Lakers took advantage of the gain and scored again in the fourth quarter. The Indians had had quite enough of that and Haala charged 46 yards to score his first touchdown of the night. Juan Cortez put up the final touchdown for Sleepy Eye, traveling nine yards to score.

With this win over Lakeview the Indians secured a Tuesday night home game in playoffs.
