Greenhands and officers attend regional workshop.
More than 550 FFA members, from all around the area, gathered together on Sept. 27 for the Region VI Greenhand Day and Officer Workshop in Windom. The goal of this workshop is to enlighten new members—Greenhands—about all of the exciting things FFA offers, and help chapter officer teams improve their skills and communication.
The entire day was put together by the Region VI officer team and State FFA officers, Maddie Weninger and Kylee Kohls, assisted with the service workshop.
Katie Rogers, past State FFA Vice President, and Spencer Flood, State FFA Treasurer, facilitated the Chapter Officer Workshop for all of the chapter officer teams in Region VI. Officers worked on building teamwork and communication skills, as well as increasing chapter involvement within schools and communities through promotion of FFA.
Josie Lang, Sleepy Eye FFA Chapter President, is the Region VI Reporter for the 2017-18 year. She worked along with the rest of her team to put together this year’s Greenhand Day.
Greenhand members had a fun-filled day, with different workshops presented by region officers and members from other chapters all around Region VI. Workshops included learning about the National FFA Organization, official dress, the history of FFA, Career Development Events, and Supervised Agricultural Experience projects.
Sleepy Eye FFA had 15 new members attend Greenhand Day and 17 helpers who ran CDE workshops throughout the day. Sleepy Eye FFA’s entire officer team was also present.
By the end of the day, all the Greenhands and officers were beyond excited for the upcoming school year and all the activities and opportunities FFA has to offer.
