Editor's musings on easy stuff. (No politics this week.)

“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy.” That’s a song, you know, from the opera “Porgy and Bess,” which I have not seen. I have not seen lots of theatrical productions and movies, but I still know all about them. I digress, my knowledge about culture and even pop culture (which comes mainly from reading about it) is not the topic.

Summertime is not always easy living. I have a friend from the Chicago area and for some reason I have not been able to determine, she and her husband are at their place in Arizona right now. Arizona where it is like 120 degrees! Seems like a bad idea and not easy summer living.

We’ve already had our share of heat and humidity, and it didn’t make living easy for people who have to work in it or take care of livestock or don’t have air-conditioned homes.

But on Tuesday, the first day of summer, summertime living was definitely easy. Not too hot, nice breeze, pretty skies. What more could you ask for. We biked to Allison Park, for Music in the Park, and then biked on the trail along the lake over to check out Sportsmen’s Park, the campground, and people fishing along the shore.

Summertime easy livin’ right here in Sleepy Eye!
