Sleepy Eye took the lead at the start of the game. They had two big innings, in the second and again in the fourth, scoring five runs in each, to take the game away from St. James.

Derek Nachreiner (1-1), Jake Mielke (1-3) and Alex Woitas (1-5, 1 RBI) loaded the bases to kick off the second inning. Matt Mielke (2-2, 4 RBI) stepped into the box, and after one ball, smashed a home run for a grand slam. After the bases were cleaned, Joey Walter (2-4) hit a double and scored off a base hit from Alex Sellner (2-5).

In the fourth, Jared Beltz, Mielke, Walter, Sellner and Alan Woitas all scored, bringing the Indians to a 10-0 lead. St. James came back, but only scored two runs. Sellner and Mielke scored in the fifth, giving the Indians the game.

The Indians followed up their win over the A’s with a trip to Essig to play the Blue Jays on Sunday, June 18.

The Blue Jays snatched the game in the bottom of the first with two runs, but Sleepy Eye came back in the third to score four runs. Andrew Woitas (2-4, 4 RBI) smashed a double to clear the bases for 3 RBI. The Blue Jays never recovered and the game went to the Indians.

The Indians host Fairfax on Wednesday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m.
