The Indians took an early lead, scoring runs in the first, second, third and fourth innings. The big inning came in the top of the fourth. Sean Salfer hit a double, sending two home, and the Indians scored four runs total.

The Cubs went big in the bottom of the fifth, scoring seven runs—but it wasn’t enough to break the deficit.

Alan Woitas took the win on the mound, pitching eight and two thirds innings. He struck out 14 and is charged with five hits and one run.

The Indians played the Stark Longhorns at home on Saturday—John Mangen Day. The game was marked with events for kids and raised money for college scholarships.

The Indians suffered a loss at home, when the Longhorns stole the game in the first inning with seven runs. Joey Walter (3-5), Andrew Woitas (1-4, 1 RBI) and Matt Berkner (3-4) all scored runs in the third.

On Sunday the Indians were back on the road, against the Leavenworth Orioles. The Indians managed an early lead by two, but the Orioles broke through in the second and again in the fourth. Walter and Alex Sellner scored at the top of the first.

The Indians host St. James at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 16.
