As renovation work winds down at the newly-named AmericInn Hotel and Suites Sleepy Eye, General Manager Becky Christensen is getting organized for an early May opening.

Christensen comes to AmericInn with several years of management experience at the Microtel in Springfield. “I worked in various positions, from housekeeping on up, and just loved it,” said Christensen. She is looking forward to serving guests when the hotel opens.

Christensen is impressed with the owners and how they do business and treat their employees. “I can’t say enough about the wonderful people at Ruhr Development,” she said. “They are great to work for and are doing everything right with the property. In fact, Jeff Ruhr was recently named AmericInn Developer of Year.”

Christensen said rooms can be reserved by calling 800-634-3444 or on the AmericInn website. They’ll soon have a local phone number as well.

Christensen is a familiar face to many as she also works as bakery manager at Schutz Family Foods. She said her early-morning hours there will be followed by days spent managing the AmericInn. Christensen and her husband, Steve, live in rural Comfrey. They are former owners of the Comfrey Times (from 2008 to 2014) and Steve works for the Comfrey school district in IT, with some teaching and other duties.
