The Eagles came into the game on Friday riding a four-game win streak. The first period belonged to the Eagles and Brandon Mehlhop, who scored two goals. Eagles goalie Jack Raymond shut out the Bluejays in the first period.

In the second period, the Eagles’ Tomas Babik scored his first goal in the first 30 seconds. The Bluejays lost a player due to a tripping penalty, and Babik got a power-play goal bouncing the puck back at Bluejay goalie Andrew Weber after a save. With three minutes of time left in the period, the Bluejays’ Peter Meyer scored the one and only of the night for Waseca.

Mehlhop got one more chance to shine in the third period, getting a hat trick on a power play. Raymond saved 19 of 20 shots on goal.

The Eagles play the Hutchinson Tigers in a Section 3A quarterfinal game on Thursday, Feb. 23 at home.
