This Saturday, June 6, is Kaylie and Tyler’s Faith Jam at Allison Park in Sleepy Eye.

After the great crowd at last year’s Color Run, Deb Hadley is anxious to experience it again.

This Saturday, June 6, is Kaylie and Tyler’s Faith Jam at Allison Park in Sleepy Eye. One of the events is a colorful 5K run/walk, but there will be much more going on, including a 3 on 3 basketball tournament.

When asked about the day Deb said, “The 3 on 3 basketball tournament and 5K are just a portion of what this day has to offer. To me the highlights are definitely Coach Jerry Kill of the University of Minnesota Football Team, and the Jason Gray concert that is to follow. These two people alone will inspire you to be a better person. I would invite everyone to come up to the park to take part in these festivities!”

New this year will be kids games in the park from 2 to 4 p.m. “These are also free will offerings and just for fun,” said Deb. “We’ll have a silent auction and a free will offering meal that we hope the public will come out and enjoy.”

Deb hopes the public comes out to support Konner Mathiowetz. “Konner, like Kaylie, suffers from epilepsy, a disease that claimed her life and has challenged him for the rest of his,” explained Deb. “He needs a lift for his van and we are selling t-shirts and taking donations to support this mission.” Deb added that it is really inspiring when people and communities come together to support each other.

Deb said that they will be accepting same day registrations for the 5K. People who would like to participate should come to the park during registration, 2 to 4 p.m. “I’ve ordered extra t-shirts that will be available on a first come first served basis,” she said.

According to Deb, they have 30 teams registered for the 3 on 3 tournament and approximately 120 participants. “This event is organized by two public school basketball coaches, Brian Polesky and Shane Laffen, to honor Tyler as he loved basketball! It is going to be a great event and we are grateful they are planning it,” said Deb. “Kids who still want to participate can bring a team in that morning or come as an individual, and we can help build them a team,” she added. Registration for the 3 on 3 is in the Hadley’s garage at 601 Water Street SW. The court is on School Street, which runs along the football field.

The 3 on 3 basketball tournament starts at 9 a.m. The free will meal starts at 3 p.m. The 5K starts at 4:30 p.m. with a balloon release. Coach Kill will speak at 6:15 followed by Jason Grey in concert until 8:30.

Deb’s request of the community is simple: “Please come out and join us. All proceeds go the KT Humble Hearts Foundation, started in honor of our children, Kaylie and Tyler, to help the fight against epilepsy, fund school scholarships, help with families who are grieving and provide financial support to those in need.”
