  • The River Valley girls tennis team only has one loss as of Aug. 27.

On Aug. 21, the Wildcats traveled to Marshall where they won 5-2. All three doubles teams convincingly beat their opponents, while the only losses came from No. 1 doubles as Kalyn Haas lost in two tie breakers. The other was from Alyssa Rubey at No. 3 singles, but the other five wins were more than enough to move past the young team of Marshall.

The next day, River Valley was on the road again, this time facing New Ulm Public. The Wildcats defeated the Eagles 7-0 last year and won 5-2 this year. The most exciting match of the day was at No. 3 doubles, where Sara Haugo and Karlie Ries won over their opponents by a score of 7-6 (8-6 tiebreaker), 7-6 (7-3 tiebreaker).

On Aug. 25, River Valley hosted Luverne where the team was handed its first loss of the season. Last year the Wildcats fell to Luverne 0-7 and this year it was a thrilling seven games as River Valley fell by one match, 3-4. The next day, the Wildcats defeated Maple River 5-2.
