  • The Searles 35-and-over Bullheads finished their regular season on Aug. 9 with a come-from-behind victory over New Hope at home.

The Bandits were quick to the bat as Searles starter Brant Drill allowed four hits, four walks, and a hit batter to give New Hope a 6-0 lead after the top of the first. However, the Bullheads responded with five runs of their own in the bottom of the first on base hits from Troy Kamm, John Giefer, Todd Hulke, and Tom Glaser. After a walk from Cory Schaefer and a hit batter, Craig Schmitz hit a big double to bring in more runs.

The game was tied at seven apiece in the second after Giefer, Schmitz, and Doug Ekstrom recorded base hits. In the third, Drill recorded a hit which was followed by an error and a single from Kamm. A walk from Giefer gave the Bullheads their first lead of the game, and three more were added after Schaefer hit a sacrifice fly and Rummel had a RBI single.

In the fourth, Rummel took the mound and found himself with bases loaded but only allowed one of those runners to score. Rummel recorded three strikeouts in the final three frames to earn the 11-8 win.

Searles finishes its regular season with a record of 9-7 and will play in the MSMABA State Tournament on Aug. 16.
