DARRIN HAALA CHIPS toward hole 9 on Aug. 9 at Sleepy Eye Golf Course. A total of 19 teams participated in the Sleepy Eye Public Football Boosters golf tournament, raising money for the Sleepy Eye Public football program. Some of the money raised will go toward buying a memorial bench in memory of Tyler Hadley and John Mangen. Last year, the tournament raised money to purchase a bench in remembrance of Kim Mertz. The new bench will be dedicated at Sleepy Eye Public’s homecoming football game on Sept. 19. After a three hole playoff, the first place team went to Mitch Laffen, Aaron Zuhlsdorf, and Joe Berdan while second place went to the team of Brian Hertling, Trent Weicherding, and Dave Fenske. Josh Hadley, Steven Rohlik and Ryan Rohlik took third.
