  • The Searles 35-and-over baseball team defeated the Cardinals by a score of 5-3 on August 3.
     
    The Bullheads recorded 13 hits in the win, including four doubles. Searles opened up the scoring with one run in the second on singles by Doug Ekstrom and Matt Kuster, and a RBI double by Troy Kamm.
     
    In the fourth, Searles added three more runs on three straight doubles. With two outs, Kamm hit a ground rule double over the right field fence, and John Giefer followed with a two run double. Corey Schaefer added one more and a final run was added in the fifth from an RBI single by Brad Mathiowetz.
     
    On the mound, Scott Rummel allowed one run and two hits through five innings, and Craig Schmitz gave up the final two runs to St. Louis Park. Chris Peters got the save in the seventh.
     
    It was a big win for the Bullheads as the Cardinals are in first place in the Wilson Division of the River Valley League with a record of 12-3. Meanwhile, Searles moves to 7-7 in the Rawlings Division.
