  • Today begins the first week of the NFL preseason. Football is back and is here to stay through January. Just think... it will be snowing in just a few months!

It should be another awesome season and I can’t wait for it to start. Tomorrow will be the Vikings’ first preseason game, against Oakland. A lot of fans have hope for the team this year. I can definitely see them recording more than five wins, but it’s still going to be tough. There are a few major items going against them such as the new rookie quarterback. No matter how great Teddy Bridgewater was in college, it takes time to adjust to the NFL. Other challenges will be their tough schedule, playing in the unfamiliar outdoor TCF Bank Stadium, and the absence of Jared Allen. Fortunately, the Vikes still have Adrian Peterson, which is all a team needs.

Meanwhile, the NFL has chosen the best two teams in the game to kick off the regular season. The Packers will be at Seattle on Sept. 4, where hopefully the Pack can get revenge over the “fail mary”. Obviously, starting out the season against the defending Super Bowl champs will be tough, but I have faith. The Packers were riddled with injuries last year and still somehow made the playoffs. This year, almost everyone is healthy again, and the Pack has Ha Ha Clinton-Dix as the safety, a spot we badly needed improvement with. The offensive line should in theory be better as well, now that Marshall Newhouse is gone (He wasn’t the best), and Bryan Bulaga is back from injury. If the offensive line can keep Aaron Rodgers healthy all season, the Pack will have a shot. Not to mention, Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers will be working together on defense, which is insane.

The NFL is probably the only pro sports league where I believe I’m actually decent at predicting games, so I will be starting back up the ever-so-popular “Chris’ Football Predictions” section again soon. Of course I will be rooting for both the Packers and the Vikings, but when they play each other, the cheese head comes on. Let’s try and avoid a tie this year guys.
