  • Sleepy Eye Community Theatre (SECT) is pleased to bring the production of Disney’s “101 Dalmatians Kids” to the stage at St. Mary’s Auditorium Aug. 1-2.

The entire cast is comprised of children, the youngest going into third grade and the oldest going into their senior year of high school.

Pet owners Robert and Anita live happily in London with Dalmatian parents Pongo and Perdita, stalwart dogs devoted to raising their puppies. Everything is quiet until the monstrous Cruella De Vil, Anita’s former classmate, plots to steal the puppies for her new fur coat.

Director Kristina Iwan, who is a musical instructor at Sleepy Eye Public School said while working with children can be different, she finds it inspiring to see kids who want to work so hard at something.

“This group of kids has been exceptional to work with. They learn fast and want to do it right so they keep practicing. It is encouraging to see kids who want to work hard at something,” Iwan noted.

The cast includes: Mary Joyce as Anita; Lauren and Morgan Klein as Boxers; Leah Miller, Bailey Rutscher and Megan Sellner as Canine Narrators; Kaleb Wait as Chihuahua; Emily Rutscher as Cruella De Vil; Riley Rutscher as Dogcatcher; Ava Schubbe as Dot; Emma Currans, Lydia Huiras, Lee Wahlborg and John Miller as Puppies; Carter Currans as Horace; Isaac Huiras as Jasper; Adelinde Hoffmann as Lucky; Sarah Zinniel as Nanny; Meridan Andres as Patch; Callie Bohnen as Penny; Katelyn Rutscher as Pepper; Maleah Berry as Perdita; Jaclyn Nessett as Police Officer; Trenten Beranek as Pongo; Molly Landkammer and Abby Schwartz as Poodles; Isaac Nelson as Roger; Sophie Gustafson and Anika Nosbusch as Scotties; Jaden Oglesby as Sgt. Tibbs and Kenadi Steffl as Spot.

The play is directed by Kristina Iwan. Music Directors include Gerry and Carol Anderson. Choreographer is Gary Sassenberg.

Performances will be held Friday, Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Auditorium. Call the theatre box office at 507-794-7873 for ticket information.
