  • The Sleepy Eye 14U baseball team went 4-1 over the weekend at the Minnesota Sports Federation 14U AA State Tournament in Austin.

The team’s first game of the weekend was a 11-3 loss to Annandale in pool play. However, the loss would be their only one as Sleepy Eye took down Wayzata in an exciting 5-4 win to end the pool play rounds. Due to all three teams recording the same pool play records, placement was based on run differentials and Sleepy Eye ended up in third place and started its next game in the consolation bracket.

In the playoffs, Sleepy Eye defeated Centennial in another 5-4 win. Game four turned out to be another nail-biter as Sleepy Eye beat Little Falls 9-8. The high hitting games didn’t stop there, as Sleepy Eye took on Hopkins in the final game where they won 10-9 to take home the consolation championship.

Out of 24 teams in the tournament, Sleepy Eye finished fifth overall.
