    The Sleepy Eye 8th grade girls Pacesetter team traveled to the Target Center in Minneapolis on June 29 where they won the Great Four-State Basketball Championship in style. The Indians not only made it to the final game with flying colors, but they also beat their opponent by a margin of 24 points with a final score of 40-16 over a team from Bismark, N.D.
     
    The girls out-shot Bismark 21-8 in the first half and 19-8 in the second. Madison Heiderscheidt led the team with 13 points, while Brianna Polesky and McKenzie Cselovszki each added nine. Sarah Ibarra added six points in the win. After the game, the team was recognized at the Minnesota Lynx game in front of a big crowd.
     
    The Pacesetter tournament began in St. Cloud with over 600 teams competing. The Sleepy Eye girls battled their way up the ladder as they took on top teams from all around the Midwest before qualifying to play in the Great Four-State Basketball Championship.
