Several lessons were discussed in sessions attended by camp-goers, including how to make and attain well-planned goals, the importance of teamwork, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Projects, chapter activities and Career Development Events (CDE’s).

The campers also learned about service in a hands-on way by crafting good-deed bracelets to keep track of their service throughout each day.

Camp-goers were able to learn about different activities throughout FFA and what other chapters in our region do. The members of each chapter were in charge of conducting a flag raising or lowering ceremony each day of camp. Teamwork was one of the main focuses of the camp and was tested at the Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center’s Challenge Course, which included ropes courses and canoeing.

Six Minnesota State FFA Officers also attended the camp and conducted leadership training including President Jack Roessler, Vice President Kyla Mauk, Secretary Valerie Earley, Reporter Erin Larson, Treasurer Brady Wulf and Sentinel Dalton Kampsen. Region VI officers were also in attendance. During the leadership training, setting goals and having a vision, teamwork, importance of community service as well as service to our country were topics of discussion.

On the last night of camp, a banquet and talent show were held. The camp officers selected from the Sleepy Eye chapter included: Courtney Engholm, Ruben Astorga, Isabella Portner, and Tyrah Stoll.

The camp proved to be fun, exciting and educational for all who attended. It was a great opportunity to grow as a person, bond with other members from Sleepy Eye and learn from the other FFA chapters.
