  • Over a week ago I posted to my Facebook page a plea to God for sunshine, about 75 degree temps and a light breeze for Saturday.
It was a work day in Mom’s yard and I needed all the help He could provide.
The day couldn’t have been more perfect! Early on it was cool while cutting down not one, but two trees that had seen better days along Mom’s property line.
Two of my three brothers, Larry and Brad, my sister-in-law Tammy, nephew Shane and niece Kelsey along with Sputz and I, went to work on Mom’s yard and just shortly after lunch time, we had, both trees down, hauled away and cleaned up. All trees trimmed. Flower beds along her deck had plants dug out and kept, the soil redug and the plants put back in along with a decorative stepping stone or two.
At the end of that project, my back and hands hurt tremendously. But, so did everyone else. Mom was grateful that the project was complete and things look well-kept, like they always do.
It is true when they say many hands make light of much work!
Once complete, we all ate lunch together and than retired to the deck and lawn to soak in the sun and admire our hard work.
Sunday we lagged a little too slow to make church in Graceville which lended itself well because in Browns Valley, we had the opportunity to see more family after the church service and hang around for a quick visit.
The day wouldn’t have been complete without eating one more time together before we needed to hit the highway back to Sleepy Eye. It seemed like a really productive weekend because when we got back home, Sputz and I spent the next couple of hours hoeing the garden at the farm, just in time for another rain shower during the evening.
It was a lot of work that was accomplished through working together and I know Mom was happy to have some of the family home together too.
