  • The 2014 Brown County Free Fair is set for Aug. 6-10 at the fairgrounds in New Ulm.
    Grandstand events include Demo Derbies on Wednesday and Saturday nights, Minn-e-Rods and Truck/Tractor Pull on Sunday afternoon, a free concert by Mikeschair, a contemporary Christian band on Thursday evening, and Monster Trucks will provide the entertainment on Friday night.
    There will be free entertainment every afternoon and evening throughout the fair.
    Senior Citizens Day will be held Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with many activities in the climate controlled Civic Center.
    The Amateur Talent Contest is being moved to 5:30 Thursday evening in the Civic Center. Kids Day will feature various special activities all afternoon on Friday. Dock Dogs will be a highlight again on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
    Local participation is encouraged for all open class livestock shows, horticulture, clothing construction, handicrafts, canning, culinary arts and fine arts, as well as the Minnesota State Gladiolus Society Show.

    A new and larger carnival will be in town for the fair. They’ll be offering advance sale ride discounts as well as new rides for all ages.
    Make plans now to stop to view all the 4-H and FFA exhibits, machinery exhibits, livestock and more at the 2014 Brown County Free Fair. As always, admission and parking are free.
