    Just one stroke separated the St. Mary’s boys golf team from first on May 5 in Sleepy Eye.
    It was a silent battle between St. Mary’s senior Bryant Mages and BLHS senior Kyle Mellies for the boys, as Mages ended with a score of 42 while Mellies earned the top score of the day with 41. Behind Mages was sophomore Ryan Heinrichs, who shot a 45 on the sunny afternoon.
    Meanwhile, the Sleepy Eye Public boys all shot similarily to place third. Eighth grader Ben Laffen led with a score of 51, while Wyatt Kosmatka, Alex Hillesheim and Matt Miller all shot 52.
    For the girls, Sleepy Eye Public won over St. Mary’s by 24 strokes. Sophomore Lauren Laffen earned the top girls score with 49, while Sara Rossbach shot a 58.
    For St. Mary’s, sophomore Alyssa Rubey led with a 61 while junior Sarah Surprenant scored 65.

    On May 2, the St. Mary’s boys won over Red Rock Central, 190-223. Heinrichs, Neid and Mages all shot a 46 in the win. The Falcons did not have a full girls team. Miller and Rubey led with scores of 58 and 63, respectfully.
    Meanwhile, the Sleepy Eye Public golf team was at Sanborn Golf Course on May 2 where it took on Wabasso and Springfield. The boys team won the triangular by three strokes after scoring a total of 192 compared to Springfield’s 195. Wabasso scored 233. Top scorers were Caleb Christensen with 42, B. Laffen with 47, and Kosmatka with 49. Hildesheim scored 54.
    L. Laffen scored a 49, but it wasn’t enough as the girls scored 254 and Springfield scored 216. Freshman Callie Wersal of Springfield shot the best score of the day with a 48.
