  • On Thursday, March 17, Justin Helget, a fifth-grade teacher at North Intermediate School in St. Peter, was awarded for being an all star teacher in Minnesota. He is one of seven teachers to receive this honor.

Justin is the son of Bob and Lori Helget of Sleepy Eye.

He was nominated by Christy Borseth, a parent whose daughter, Ashley, is in Justin’s class. She said she nominated him because he gives students a reason to smile and is a true role model for them.

Justin said receiving the award was an honor.

“Not only myself, but a lot of teachers here at North–we’re all on the same pathway, very driven, have future goals that we all want to implement and just see the students succeed with smiles on their faces,” Justin said. “I just want them (the students) to be happy. I always tell them to try their best, be happy and have fun and good things will happen if you do that.”

Justin received an award to adorn his desk as well as $900 from Royal Credit Union for classroom supplies. He will also get a Subway sandwich party for him and 100 of his closest friends.
