  • With the summer vacation season approaching, people are planning their road trips and the Sleepy Eye CVB (Convention and Visitors Bureau) is working hard to let people know what great activities Sleepy Eye has to offer.

The CVB has created a tri-fold flier that gives a snapshot of things to do in Sleepy Eye, along with food and lodging information, events the community offers and the history of our name. The fliers, along with a map of the city with areas of interest, the Sleepy Eye Visitor’s Guide and a tear sheet of tourist places to go is available throughout the community.

The goal of the kiosks is to inform visitors of all the attractions in this area and to give assistance to our local businesses when someone walks in and inquires about what there is to do in Sleepy Eye.

In Sleepy Eye we understand the impact a tourist can have on our local economy, so we are growing and adapting with the times by having several niche stores and antique shops along with delicious food when the urge hits and great places to stay the night.

Our city is very fortunate to be in the heart of Brown County and at the intersections of Highways 4 and 14 where Highway 14 averages 8,600-10,400 vehicles daily and Highway 4 2,350-5,700 vehicles daily.

With improvements many of our building owners have made and have plans for, we will have the windshield appeal that makes the driver want to stop and look around versus just passing through.

There are a lot of positive and exciting things happening in Sleepy Eye and tourism is one of them.
